Unbreakable and Split Sequel Release Date Announced, Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson Confirmed
M. Night Shyamalan will be revisiting a film created back in 2000 titled Unbreakable. Unsurprisingly, it was confirmed that Split was its sequel, but now a third one is one the way. Addressing the two simultaneously, the director has confirmed that the script for an Unbreakable/Split sequel has been completed. In a series of back to back Twitter posts, Shyamalan confesses that this “was always a dream”.
It’s taken 17 years, but I can finally answer the #1 question I get, ‘Are you making a f#&@ing sequel to Unbreakable or what?’ My new film is the sequel to Unbreakable AND Split. It was always my dream to have both films collide in this third film.”
The original film released in 2000 follows the story of David Dunn, a security officer who gained superpowers through an unfortunate train accident. Guided along by comic book shop owner, Elijah Price, Dunn uncovers more about his abilities and the real story behind the other man’s helpfulness. Not only will Willis return as David Dunn, but Samuel L. Jackson will be making a comeback as Elijah Price (a.k.a. Mr. Glass). James McAvoy and Anya Taylor Joy’s characters will reappear as well. The appropriately titled movie, Glass, will be a returning partnership with Universal Pictures and Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions.
Universal Pictures will release #Glass on January 18, 2019 all over the world. How’s that for not keeping a secret!
