Last year’s Total War: Warhammer was quite the big deal as it marked the collision of popular strategy franchises Total War and Warhammer 40,000. The mash-up success secured developer Creative Assembly’s plans to make the PC game the first in a series, concluding in a third entry later on down the line. Revealed earlier this year, the first of these sequels was featured at this year’s PC Gaming Show at E3 as Total War Warhammer 2. The accompanying video, which you can view below, shows off the first inklings of the game’s strategy-based gameplay as well as an official release date for the fantasy title.

Not too much was revealed about Total War Warhammer 2 outside the released footage. Based on the video alone, one could expect the new game to focus on the Battle of the Fallen Gates where a Lizardmen army goes up against the High Elves. It doesn’t look to be a straightforward battle either, as the to sides employ the help of large beasts to advantage them in battle: Lizardmen with a carnosaur, and the High Elves with a dragon. This seems to carry over the strategic gameplay from the original game.

Total War Warhammer 2 is set to release September 28, 2017 as confirmed in the at E3. This means only a few months remain before we’ll be able to get our hands on the game. In the meantime, Total War has other offerings to tide us over, including a MOBA and a brand new historical game on the horizon. More about Total War Warhammer 2 should be arriving in the coming weeks, so be sure to stay tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers to be informed of the latest updates.
