Game of Thrones’ Bran Stark Actor Reveals His Role in *That* Season 7 Finale Death

*This article contains spoilers for the season 7 finale of Game of Thrones.  Avert your eyes, Bran Stark!*

“And they lived happily, ever after” isn’t typically a line one would associate with Game of Thrones, though sometimes the good guys score a win that has fans jumping out of their seats and cheering, not unlike the conclusion of the ‘Battle of the Bastard’.  Thankfully in the case of the season 7 finale, the only casualty needed to provide that “aha!” moment for the Stark children at Winterfell was that of one Petyr ‘Littlefinger’ Baelish.  Although the practiced manipulator thought himself safe in his position at the Lady of Winterfell’s side, sisters Sansa and Arya Stark outwitted him at the last possible moment, luring Littlefinger into a trap that outed him for crimes that spanned the entire breadth of the Game of Thrones series.

The Stark sisters didn’t do it alone, though; the all-seeing Bran Stark had a weighty hand in delivering Littlefinger to justice, though his contributions were nary seen during the last few episodes of the season. In a recent interview with Variety, Bran Stark actor Isaac Hempstead Wright revealed that a deleted scene between Bran and Sansa would have helped set up that pleasantly surprising plot twist during the finale.

“We actually did a scene that clearly got cut, a short scene with Sansa where she knocks on Bran’s door and says, ‘I need your help,’ or something along those lines,” said Wright.  “So basically, as far as I know, the story was that it suddenly occurred to Sansa that she had a huge CCTV department at her discretion and it might be a good idea to check with him first before she guts her own sister.  So she goes to Bran, and Bran tells her everything she needs to know, and she’s like, ‘Oh, s—.”

The decision to leave out the above scene is somewhat understandable.  Up until that scene, many of the show’s viewers thought that the quarreling between the Stark sisters was coming to a head.  A scene with Sansa and Bran Stark that shows she isn’t taking Littlefinger at his word would have clued fans in to how much trouble Baelish was in.  Hopefully we’ll get the chance to see Bran put his ‘CCTV skills’  to further good use once season 8 of Game of Thrones arrives.  In the meantime, we’ll always have this lovely duet to hold us over.
