The Witcher Netflix Showrunner Reacts To Season 2 Renewal
Earlier today, we happily reported that Netflix’s The Witcher TV series has officially been renewed for a second season. While many Netflix shows don’t get an official renewal until months after the initial air date, The Witcher’s season 2 renewal comes a little over a month prior to the show’s mid-December release date, which should say something for how happy Netflix is with the series thus far. Showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich has plenty to celebrate as well, and she recently expressed how excited she is to continue the story of Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri.
Lauren S. Hissrich recently took to Twitter to express her happiness and gratitude over the renewal of The Witcher for a second season, while also complimenting the cast for the fantastic work they’ve put in thus far. Check it out below:
I’m so thrilled to announce: Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri will be back for more adventures… in Season Two.
I could not be more proud of what the amazing cast and crew of The Witcher have accomplished, and can’t wait for the world to dig in and enjoy these stories with us. ❤️⚔️? pic.twitter.com/evWoHvUl1e

Eyes have, of course, turned to what the second season of The Witcher could bring us. Netflix retweeted the official announcement with a caption that says “Destiny cannot be denied,” which may be hinting that season 2 could be tapping into the Sword of Destiny short stories from the author. Given that the showrunner already has 7 seasons mapped out, here’s hoping we’ll eventually get to see them all.
Netflix’s The Witcher series airs on December 20, 2019.
