The Witcher Netflix Series Teases Big Casting News

Netflix’s The Witcher TV series continues on its development path in relative silence. Henry Cavill remains the only announced cast member. However, a tweet from the show’s casting agency indicates that a big announcement is on its way.

Sophie Holland, director of Sophie Holland Casting, sent out a tweet which included a letter and a champagne bottle. A fold obscures the contents, leaving us to speculate. However, the tweet provides clues as to who sent the thank you gift: the agents of a newly cast actor for The Witcher.

The Witcher’s showrunner, Lauren Hissrich, is tagged in the post and retweeted the message. Hissirch only recently returned to Twitter after the Ciri casting controversy. In doing so, she announced that she’d completed the scripts for every episode. She’d previously discussed how the show’s team is approaching the casting process. In a nutshell, the process has required more work than most due to the show’s international search.

“Normally, when casting a show, the casting director pulls character-specific scenes from the pilot script for actors’ auditions. However, because we’re casting internationally (which means lots of emails and self-tapes) and because we know by now the internet keeps no secrets. The writing staff has instead created entirely new scenes for our main characters. These are written to illustrate the precise tone, vibe, depth, and emotional resonance we need from Geralt and friends… but voila! They are spoiler-free, for us and for you.”

Any news on The Witcher series is deserving of celebration. Earlier this week, we received word of some talented new team members joining the show, but no other actors. Given the show’s slow progress on naming/finding Cavill’s costars, this should excite fans for what’s to come. We will keep you updated on all of the particulars once they drop.
