‘The Last Remnant Remastered’ Announced For PS4 (VIDEO)
Square Enix has been on quite the remaster kick as of late. Just yesterday, the Japanese publisher announced that Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicless was getting a remaster for the PlayStation 4. Now, it appears that JRPG ‘The Last Remnant’ is up next on the list, with a release date of December 6th for the PS4. Square Enix made the announcement today in a brief teaser trailer for the remaster. Check it out below:
Released ten years ago, The Last Remnant featured a unique take on gameplay with its squad-based mechanics. Accompanied by a deep story that followed protagonist Rush Sykes as he is “pulled into the fray,” the game quickly acquired a cult following. In a new interview with game director Kouichirou Sakamoto, the director discusses what to look forward to in the remaster. “We’ve changed the rendering engine for this remaster (from Unreal Engine 3 to Unreal Engine 4), and we’ve made adjustments to things like how light is portrayed, effects, etc.,” Sakamoto said.
Also, we’ve implemented some improvements in areas of details, like changing fonts and redrawing all of the character icons in battle. I hope everyone will enjoy this title after its rebirth.”
Sakamoto finishes the interview with one final message to fans of the original game. “The Last Remnant has a system that even now, could be considered revolutionary,” he said. “Furthermore, its deep storyline, and consequently, I believe it’s a title that has easily stood the test of time. I would love it if the RPG lovers out there would try playing this.”
RPG fans will get their chance when The Last Remnant Remastered releases exclusively for the PlayStation 4 on December 6th, 2018.
