Tekken 7 Season 4 Includes New Kunimitsu DLC, Netcode Update (VIDEO)

Tekken Season 4 Kunimitsu II

It’s been a little while since Bandai Namco announced new content for Tekken 7, with fans waiting over a month since the fighting game was officially confirmed for a fourth season. However, this weekend’s big Tokyo Game Show event was poised to give fans the first details regarding the new round of content, including which new fighter will join the game’s continually expanding roster. Fortunately, it appears fans were indeed treated with more Tekken 7 Season 4 news, as Kunimitsu has now been confirmed as the game’s next DLC character.

Shown off in a new trailer, the dagger-wielding kunoichi was formally unveiled in a spectacular in-game showcase, highlighting the character’s prowess with close-range and weapon-based attacks. Towards the end of the trailer, the masked fighter reveals herself to be different from the Kunimitsu in the original Tekken games and is actually the character’s daughter taking up the mantle to reclaim Yoshimitsu’s sword as her own. All the while, the footage gives a good look at the new Vermillion Gates fight stage that will also be introduced for Tekken 7 Season 4.

While the reveal of a new fighter would be hype-worthy enough for many fans, Bandai Namco also confirmed a number of updates planned for the release of Season 4. In addition to fresh moves for all characters, an updated ‘Tekken God Omega’ rank tier, and the new ‘Tekken Prowess’ ranking system, Tekken 7 is also readying a myriad of “Online Play Enhancements” aiming to patch up the game’s infamously spotty multiplayer netcode. While such a development would almost be too good to be true, several prominent Tekken players have already begun to sing the new netcode’s praises, including Community Advisor for the Tekken brand Mark Julio.

Tekken 7 Season 4 is set to arrive in Fall 2020 for all current platforms on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
