Deadly Premonition creator and White Owls Inc. CEO, Hidetaka “SWERY” Suehiro, revealed his “debt repayment RPG” and murder mystery a few years ago and development has been steadily chugging along. Even though it was anticipated for release this Summer, it’s seeing a slight delay. Coming this Fall, The Good Life will also have a brand new publisher in Playism.

As Naomi Hayward, players will explore a rural English town that’s considered to be the “happiest place in the world.” Even if for a moment, Naomi escapes her life of overwhelming financial debt to investigate the mysterious town of Rainy Woods and its mountain of secrets. One of the secrets? The townspeople can transform into cats and dogs. In fact, Naomi can transform herself to either animal and use their respective senses to track down villagers, or explore areas that can’t be found as a human.

Armed with her camera and investigative skills, Naomi must learn to balance the sweet, rural life and the debt she must repay from her life in New York City. In addition to the work commissioned to her by The Morning Bell newspaper, Naomi can take on odd jobs around the town to make a sustainable living.

According to the official Steam page, “Your earnings from commissions, Flamingo and part-time jobs around town will provide you a decent living. Why not delve into the delights of Rainy Woods? Grow vegetables in your garden? Expand your cooking repertoire? Explore the wilderness? Join the locals for a drink at the pub? Or help them out and get to know them a little bit better. The days are yours to fill with whatever you please, but remember – cultivating a good life is a balancing act!”

In collaboration with Panzer Dragoon and Phantom Dust creator, Yukio Futatsugi, and his studio, Grounding Inc., The Good Life arrives Fall 2021 for PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
