Super Smash Bros Ultimate Adds Ridley To The Roster At E3 2018 (VIDEO)

Super Smash Bros Ultimate Fighter Ridley

Nintendo made it quite clear that Super Smash Bros Ultimate for Nintendo Switch would be the big focus in the new Nintendo Direct at E3 2018, and they certainly did not disappoint. The Super Smash Bros portion of the presentation began by revealing the full roster of every returning character from previous Smash Bros. games, but aside from the confirmation of Princess Daisy and the Splatoon Inklings, focused little on new character surprises.

That was until the end of the video which revealed the new Super Smash Bros Ultimate fighter Ridley, from the Metroid series. The Super Smash Bros Ultimate portion of the E3 2018 Nintendo Direct was released on the official Nintendo YouTube channel. At the 22:50 mark, Masahiro Sakurai closes the video by expressing hope that the audience understands that the inclusion of all the previous Smash Bros. fighters ever may mean fewer new characters. Check it out below:

Still, he introduces a new one disclosed in a special cinematic. Mario, Mega Man and Samus Aran are seen walking across a tall dark walkway, as a flying shadowed figure sweeps away the heroes. The silhouette is revealed to be none other than Ridley from Metroid, and is shown in action within the game’s engine. Ripley has appeared before in the Smash Bros. series in trophy form and as a boss in the Subspace Emissary single player mode in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Sakurai expressed concern about including Ridley as a fighter considering the character’s size. However, it seems a compromise was made to make Ridley smaller, but still a towering figure like Bowser over the other fighters.

At last, Smash players can control Ridley and take revenge on the orange-suited bounty hunter themselves. Do you guys approve of Ultimate adding Ridley? Let us know in the comments below!
