Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League Reportedly Delayed

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League Harley Quinn

Following last year’s successful film take on the supervillain group, WB and Batman Arkham series developer Rocksteady Studios are preparing a new high-action Suicide Squad game entitled ‘Kill the Justice League,’ premising players’ takedown of an evil Superman and other big-time heroes. The foolhardy and violent exploits of Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, and King Shark were expected to release sometime in 2022, but it appears the title may have now been delayed.

According to a newly-released report from Bloomberg, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has been quietly delayed into 2023, with the outlet’s sources cited as being “people familiar with its development.” The game was first announced back during 2020’s DC FanDome event and has since then debuted two new pieces of footage, featuring a story trailer at DC FanDome 2021 as well as a showcase for The Flash during last year’s The Game Awards. Release dates accompanying each trailer were listed for 2022.

While the game never had a specific date beforehand, it might not be too surprising to see the game pushed back. WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar seemed to have signaled as much in a recent post on Twitter, where he touted the successes and future plans of the multimedia conglomerate in 2022. When teasing WB’s video game slate, such titles as the Bat-Family team-up Gotham Knights and the long-quiet Harry Potter prequel Hogwarts Legacy were mentioned, but Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was not.

This mission, this strategy continues in ‘22 with a sense of urgency: launching HBO Max in many more countries this quarter and the balance of the year, launching CNN+, delivering of a full slate of highly anticipated games. 10/x pic.twitter.com/CY5jYAhxU5

While the studio hasn’t yet confirmed the news themselves, the release of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League nonetheless aims to be the first new game from Rocksteady since 2016’s Batman Arkham VR. The title undoubtedly has tall expectations from fans as it marks the latest entry to the studio’s ‘Arkhamverse’ continuity. A 2023 release, while a bummer to wait for, wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world, especially if better ensures a quality product at launch.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is in development for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
