Star Wars Virtual Convention To Take Place On May 4th
Due to the ongoing pandemic that has many people staying at home, events are being cancelled left and right. A bounty of folks are finding new ways in the digital environment to replace in-person celebrations, including the team at Reedpop, who have revealed a virtual Star Wars convention that will be held celebrate May 4th.
For those who don’t know, May 4th is also known as Star Wars Day and is commonly referred to as May the 4th. Since it is unknown if Star Wars Celebration will go on as planned this year, many organizers are coming together for a virtual convention so fans can celebrate the popular franchise from the safety of their homes. Officially called An Online Revelry: May the 4th Be With you and Revenge of the 5th, the digital event will take place over the course of May 4th and 5th and it will features Q&A sessions and discussions with folks associated with the franchise, including voice actors and writers.

The virtual Star Wars event will take place across two days and several social media platforms. The schedule for May the 4th Be With You can be found above, while Revenge of the 5th’s itinerary can be seen below.

As we’ve seen with other events being made up for by inserting a digital alternative, including Summer Game Fest, it will be interesting to see how the rest of the year plays out. As mentioned above, we don’t know if Star Wars Celebration will remain an in-person event come this August, but if not, the digital space is a good place to have fun without putting others in danger.
The virtual Star Wars convention will kick off on May 4th at 10am ET with a live tweeting of A New Hope with the NY Comic Con Twitter account, and will conclude on May 5th with a live tweeting of Solo: A Star Wars Story by the Emerald City Comic Con Twitter account at 8pm ET.
