Star Wars: Episode IX Director J.J. Abrams Gets His Own Funko Pop Figure

Last year, a data miner revealed a list of Pop! collectibles arriving in 2019. As with any leak of this nature, there wasn’t official confirmation from the manufacturer themselves. However, a recent announcement from Funko confirms one of the premature reveals – Star Wars: Episode IX director J.J. Abrams is getting his very own collectible. They got his look down-pat!

Abrams joins a series of other Funko-fied directors alongside Alfred Hitchcock, Guillermo del Toro, Taika Waititi, James Gunn, and a few others. It seems he’s become enough of a pop culture icon to claim his rightful place in the Funko Pop series. Available for pre-order at Entertainment Earth, the Star Wars director can be purchased for a $10.99 (USD), but it officially hits shelves May 2019.

As the director of the reboot films for Star Trek and the renown television series Lost, Abrams continues to make a name for himself within the Star Wars franchise. His current endeavors include the sequel to Cloverfield, a Half-Life movie, and several others. It’s safe to say, he’s one of the hottest directors in Hollywood right now, navigating his way through one video game and nerd fandom at a time.

What do you think of a director getting his own Funko Pop character? Do you think these collectibles should be reserved for fictional ones, or is Abrams officially pop-culture knowledge now? Let us know what you think in the comments section below or start a conversation on Don’t Feed the Gamers Facebook page.
