Star Wars Battlefront II “Capital Supremacy” Update Adds Tons of New Content

Star Wars Battlefront II

The OG Star Wars Battlefront II had a gamemode called Space Assault allowing players to fly a fighter around trying to destroy an enemy Capital ship. Players could also fly their ships into hangars and fight on foot throughout Capital ship, aiming to destroy critical ship systems. Although it was later cancelled, developers had been working on expanding this to allow players to fight not only in space but on land at the same time in Battlefront III. Now the rebooted Star Wars Battlefront II is aiming to do something similar with a brand new game mode of their own.

Unfortunately, Star Wars Battlefront II’s “Capital Supremacy” won’t allow players to fight in space and land at the same time, but it does sound quite intriguing all the same. Players will begin on a planet’s surface and will be tasked with capturing and holding several command posts that will gain each team reinforcements. After gaining enough reinforcements, players will be picked up by a transport that will take them into space to board the enemy capital ship and destroy it. If the team fails to destroy the ship, they’ll be returned to the planet to start the process over again. Games won’t end until one team destroys a Capitals ship.

Capital Conquest seems to be reminiscent of Battlefield 4’s Carrier Assault with some elements from the original Battlefront II’s. The mode will host a total of 20 players per team with an additional 12 AI- controlled units per side while on the planet surface. After arriving on the Capital ship the AI units won’t participate, dropping the fight from 32v32 to 20v20. The start the game mode will be focused around the clone wars, with the planet battle taking place on Geonosis and the heroes being era appropriate. Unfortunately, even though the first and only map for the mode so far is Geonosis, there doesn’t appear to be any Geonisians for players to take control of.

Star Wars Battlefront II is available on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Are you excited for the new game mode?
