A Spyro Trilogy Remaster Is Coming To PlayStation 4, According To Recent Reports

Spyro Trilogy Remaster

Crash Bandicoot saw a great deal of success with its recent remaster and now one more classic PlayStation icon is getting his chance as well. He breathes fire, he’s purple, and he’s got a Dragonfly for a best bud. That’s right, Spyro the Dragon is back, baby! Vicarious Visions ,the same studio that brought fans the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, is said to be bringing out a new Spyro Trilogy remaster according to a recent report.

According to the Kotaku, “multiple sources familiar with the project” claim that a remastered version of the classic franchise is to be announced this March with a release date planned for the third quarter. The Spyro Trilogy remaster is said to include Spyro the Dragon, Spyro: Ripto’s Rage, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon.

Fans can expect similar improvements seen with the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. The report indicates players will see enhancements to the game’s animations, lighting, and cinematics as well as new and updated assets and a remastered soundtrack. While the original series contained an awkward password save system, the remaster will allegedly make the necessary improvements bringing the franchise into the modern era. PlayStation 4 Pro support is said to be included, though what improvements that will included were not mentioned.

No official release date was given in the latest report, however one source indicated that the remaster would see a September release date which aligns with the 20th Anniversary of Spyro the Dragon. Similar to the other Vicarious Visions remaster, the Spyro Trilogy will apparently see a release to other consoles in 2019.
