Sony Hiring For New AAA Project, The “Next Chapter Of Cinematic Storytelling”
Despite Sony’s notable absence from upcoming events such as E3 2019, the company is still working on new titles and adding new notches to its ever-growing belt of PlayStation exclusives. Now, moving into the new year, it has been revealed that Sony is currently hiring a number of people for an unannounced AAA title that will represent the “next chapter of cinematic storytelling.”
The news comes by way of one of the folks at Resetera, who discovered that Sony had placed new job listings on its careers page. According to the various listings, the company is hiring people for a third person action adventure game, and the development team will be working alongside Visual Arts Service Group (VASG), a studio that has previously worked on titles such as Uncharted, The Last of Us, God of War, and upcoming game Death Stranding. According to one of the postings, another high profile development studio will also be working on the game:
This high visibility project is being developed in collaboration with a major Sony development studio. Though currently unannounced, we have a clear vision and plan to release. The new game development team will leverage our existing expertise and premier talent, guaranteeing a high visual quality bar for the title.”
When one thinks of cinematic storytelling from Sony, it is hard not to also think about Naughty Dog’s Uncharted series, which left on a fairly open-ended note for many of its characters by the end of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. Given that The Last of Us 2 is seemingly at the tail end of development and God of War’s Kratos could probably use some sleep at this point, this may be the humble beginnings of Uncharted 5, which will likely feature a new protagonist. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long to find out what Sony is planning.
So, thoughts on the job listings? Are you hoping that the new game is a sequel, or an entirely new IP?
