The Shovel Knight’s Amiibos Have an Adorable New Feature for the Nintendo Switch

The time is finally here! Nintendo fans world-wide are diving headfirst (metaphorically, hopefully) into their newest consoles. The Nintendo Switch has officially launched and with it, a list of games, features, and more can be enjoyed for eager players. Shovel Knight fans aren’t left in the dust, the Switch’s game will be available at launch and if you’ve got the Amiibo? You’re in for a treat.

Shovel Knight players can take their co-op experience to the next level with Amiibo support. If you scan your Shovel Knight accessory, it will carry over your custom character and levels over from different versions of the game, i.e: on the Wii-U. This is a great way for players to not have to miss out on all of their hard work thus far, while also not sacrificing sweet, sweet game time on their newest console.

Now for the “adorable” part. If you seek out Madame Meeber, an NPC that can be found in the Potionarium, the Tower of Fate, and the Village, then you can summon an adorable new companion, as well. A Fairy of Shovelry will now accompany players, and it is really just a miniature version of Shovel Knight, and it is pretty much the cutest thing since the last cutest thing we talked about.

Does the newest companion serve some holiest of holy missions? Not quite … in fact, it really doesn’t affect anything other than your cuteness levels. As of right now, this is a Nintendo Switch exclusive but … not forever. The Treasure Trove update is expected to hit the Wii-U and 3DS platforms in April and with it comes this adorable little fairy.

The Fairy of Shovelry will accompany Shovel Knight, Plague Knight, or even Specter Knight on their respective adventures! Whether the little scamp is digging for treasure, trying to battle enemies, or cheering along with your victories, he is guaranteed to be delightful. Don’t worry, he won’t get in your way or mess with your gameplay! But things sure are less lonely with the Fairy of Shovelry around!”

What about you, gamers? Have you scooped up your Switch yet? What do you think about this cosmetic little sprite added to Shovel Knight? As always, join in on the conversation in the comment section below and don’t forget to follow us on Twitter for gaming and entertainment news live 24/7!
