Possible Life is Strange Prequel Coming From Deck Nine Games (GALLERY)
Last month, it was revealed by Dontnod Entertainment that they were officially working on a sequel to the 2015 episodic hit Life is Strange. In fact, while celebrating the milestone of having three million unique paying players, the development team disclosed that they have been creating the follow-up game since the beginning of last year. With that being said, something has just popped up that could be a hint at something on the other side of the story-rich title. A recent image leak that was anonymously uploaded to Imgur shows off a potential Life is Strange prequel.
It would be awfully ambitious for Dontnod to attempt both a sequel and a prequel, but that might not be the case. French site Gamekult was able to find an image within the source code of Deck Nine’s website. For the uninitiated, Deck Nine used to go by Idol Minds(Cool Boarders, Pain) until very recently. And by that, we mean yesterday. However, the Denver-based developer has since taken their website offline, effectively hiding the possible Life is Strange prequel. Thankfully, the Internet acts quick and was able to not only secure a screenshot of Chloe standing in front of a train, but also was able to conjure up an entire gallery of images. Check them out below:
Since we have no idea what the sequel to the first installment could entail, we can definitely take a stab at what the Life is Strange prequel will be about. The events of the first title take place when protagonist Max Caulfield returns to Arcadia Bay, Oregon after a few years away. After arriving back in Arcadia Bay, she reunites with her once best friend Chloe Price, who asks Max to help find Rachel Amber. Upon discovering Max can rewind time, chaos ensues. However, if the images are to be believed, that might be Chloe and Rachel seen above, which would mean the Life is Strange prequel could happen just before the events of the first game. It should also be noted that Deck Nine Games had the following to say about their first project:
Deck Nine have signed a partnership deal with a leading AAA videogame publisher and are deep in development on their first title, a brand new addition to a critically acclaimed franchise. More info will be revealed about this narrative adventure game at E3 in June.”
Narrative adventure game, you say? AAA publisher? After all, it was Square Enix that published Life is Strange. Interesting. Of course, this should all be taken with a grain of salt, but it would be great for fans to see what happened before Max returned to Arcadia Bay. Do you believe we’ll be getting a Life is Strange prequel in addition to a sequel? Which would you prefer, or do both sound enjoyable?
