Life Is Strange: True Colors Trailer Shows Off Empathy Powers (VIDEO)

Life is Strange True Colors

Another E3 is upon us, and while it is another digital-focused event like last year, it still holds the same amount of fresh gaming news announcements. Among the biggest gaming companies having a dedicated presentation during this momentous week is Square Enix. One particular franchise that Square Enix fans were hoping to see an update on this week has been the Life is Strange series, which earlier this year confirmed that both a new game and remaster collection of previous games were in the works. Now, a new Life is Strange: True Colors trailer has shown off the empathy powers present in the new game.

Square Enix released the new Life is Strange: True Colors trailer first revealed during their E3 2021 digital presentation on their official YouTube channel. The new game will focus on Alex Chen, who is investigating the cause of her brother’s death with the help of her psychic powers of empathy. This power allows her to sense the emotions of other people, including their sadness, fear and anger. These emotions are visualized through differently colored auras that surround the person in question. Using this empathy, Alex can use the emotions to generate a nova that makes the world around Alex be impacted by these emotions, revealing hidden information about the emotion’s origin.

With the emotions exposed, Alex can be tempted to use this power to manipulate others to get what she wants on the path to uncovering her brother‘s death, but the cost of what it may due to the person involved must be weighed. It seems this game will especially focus on the player’s choices to use their power and weigh the moral consequences. It has been confirmed that Life is Strange: True Colors will be released this year on September 10th, with an ultimate edition including the Life Is Strange Remastered Collection. The series has shown different ways of exploring humanity through the superpower lens in creative ways, and this game looks like it will be no stranger to this trend.
