Alleged Far Cry 5 Details Leaked – Story, Timeline, Love Interests, and More Potential Details

Ubisoft’s upcoming first-person shooter Far Cry 5 has been a hot topic ever since the announcement dropped last week. Ubisoft is doing their best to keep a tight lid on any details of the upcoming franchise entry until E3. In this day and age, keeping secrets is much more difficult than it used to be, thanks to the internet. An anonymous Reddit poster has taken to the popular forums to leak some Far Cry 5 details.

The poster created a “throw away” account on Reddit, as to not suffer the consequences of leaking the information. FarCry5-throwaway (FC5T) claims that they were a part of the focus test group for the upcoming title. The test took place about a year ago, and FC5T has decided that the world is ready to know about the new game. Firstly, the poster says that the previous rumors of a Wild West theme are not true. The plot does take place in Montana, but takes place in the present and focuses on a group of religious cultists. The Montanan town in which the story takes place is inhabited by “Doomsday-preppers bent on furthering their cause.”

FC5T claims that Far Cry 5’s antagonist is a “shirtless lunatic leader brandishing an assault rifle in one hand and a Bible in the other.” The poster compares the antagonist’s second-in-command to the likes of Tom Cruise:

An A-list celebrity who became a ranking member of the high council. There were also some oblique references to this religion sharing some commonalities with Scientology, and I wonder if those will make the cut. The only thing about the Tom Cruise [cipher] that didn’t seem to make a hell of a lot of sense is that he was supposed to have garnered his fame, at least in partial, from working in pornography. If anything’s gonna change, I’d hope it’s this element, because I’m not sure small-town America’s all that ready for porno-Tom-Cruise-turned-religious-nutjob-murderer.”

Crazy Tom Cruise

Other characters shown during the alleged focus test consisted of a female mechanic that may or may not be a love interest to the game’s protagonist, a “burn-out hippie” character, and various small town folks that fit in with the game’s setting.

FC5T reminds readers that the focus test happened over a year ago, and that a lot could have changed in that time. During the test, there weren’t any details shown for multiplayer elements or the vehicles that that fans of the franchise are used to seeing in a Far Cry game.

Ubisoft has not commented on the Far Cry 5 details being leaked, and they should be taken lightly until an official announcement or reveal has been made. It’s safe to assume that FarCry5-Throwaway’s claims will either be debunked or proven somewhat true at this year’s E3. DFTG will be there to get the official details.

What do you think about the possible Far Cry 5 details being leaked? Do you think that the poster sounds legitimate? Are you excited to get the official scoop on the next Far Cry game?
