Razer Takes a Shot at Apple With Obscene Tweet
Soon after launch it became clear that consumers and even more so business professionals weren’t too pleased with Apple’s latest iteration of their MacBook Pro lineup of laptops. The cause of all the upset centers around the removal of many of the computer’s ports utilized by power users to interact with the tools of their trade. This most recent version only supports four Thunderbolt/USB-C ports. In order to connect other devices such as SD cards (Secure Digital Memory) or phone, a separate adapter is now required.
PC manufacturer Razer sought to take advantage of the consumer backlash and Apple’s misfortune in what some are calling a most distasteful way via Twitter. In a very poorly executed but successful attempt to point out the numerous ports on their product in contrast to the new MacBook pro the tech company tweeted “You call yourself Pro? S my D.”

The image that accompanied the tweet was obviously meant to showcase their laptop’s many ports in contrast to the MacBook Pro, especially the SD card slot. It would have been a really sweet jab at Apple if not for the sexual innuendo. While the person behind the tweet most likely thought they were being clever, it didn’t take long for it to backfire.
Even though it’s not entirely spelled out, the play on words was not lost on Twitter users, whom many of took great offense to the tweet. While it’s debatable whether or not the tweet is in poor taste, when it comes to professionalism this was an epic fail with the potential to become a public relations nightmare. The folks over at Razer were quick to take more of a defend and explain approach rather than backtrack entirely however.
