Rainbow Six Siege On The Zombie Outbreak, Operation Chimera, And New Operators
Rainbow Six Siege continues to show why it’s a worthwhile shooter with a consistent rotation of content since it launched two years ago. As the popularity continues to soar, despite the recent backlash, Ubisoft recently revealed what’s next for the FPS, including more info on Operation Chimera and the new operators on the way.
According to the team’s official statement regarding Operation Chimera:
Welcome to Year 3 of Rainbow Six Siege. Your continued support allows us to create new content and we’re thrilled to reveal what’s under the command tent. Push the flap aside and come on in. We’re starting the year with Operation Chimera and a new specialized CTU in the lineup.
Biological and chemical attacks are growing threats to Operators. Six created the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) Threat Unit. CBRN is its own distinct CTU. The following two experts know what they’re doing and they’ll never turn their backs on a hotzone. These two new operators are joining the multiplayer roster and will also be playable in the limited time Outbreak event, along with other legacy operators.
One operator hails from France and uses a drone to maintain quarantine perimeters. Their service record is astounding, but their list of regrets seems endless. The other operator moved to Russia to pursue their studies and they uncovered a range of applications for self-dissolving nanobots. All allies can benefit from the research carried out by this CBRN Specialist.”
Included in the new Operation is the Outbreak, where players will suit up and take on the deadly epidemic sweeping New Mexico. For more about what the zombie mode has to offer, here’s the breakdown for the limited time event, as per Ubisoft:
An infestation of unknown origin is attacking the small town of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. The danger is so high that the authorities quarantined the entire town, trapping civilians and soldiers inside. Very little information is filtering out, but the only certainty is that the situation is dire.
Outbreak is a four-week event where all Rainbow Six owners will be able to team-up with two of their friends to take on a mysterious threat. This free event will begin with the launch of the Year 3 Season 1 title update.
Within the duration of the 4 weeks event, an exclusive collection of cutting edge HazMat cosmetic will be available. This gear will be found in the Outbreak Packs (cosmetic only, not pay to win).
The Outbreak Collection is composed of a total of 50 unique items, and no duplicates. What this means is, if you acquire 50 Outbreak Packs, we guarantee that you will have the entire Collection, including the Elite Uniform. They will contain universal weapon skins, unique weapon skins, headgear, uniforms, charms, as well as an Outbreak Collection exclusive of this season’s Elite Uniform. While there is a unique variation of the Elite Uniform available in the Outbreak Packs, the standard version of this Elite Uniform will be available for direct purchase once the event has started. All items in the pack will be either Rare, Epic, Legendary, and there will not be any content overlap between the Outbreak Packs and the Alpha Packs.
The Outbreak Packs can only be acquired for 300 R6 Credits each. That being said, a few other Outbreak rewards will be available through game play, and will be awarded based on other criteria to be disclosed at a later date.
All players that log in during the Outbreak Event will receive four Outbreak Packs immediately. For those of you who are new to the game and purchase the Advanced Edition before or during the Outbreak Event, you will receive the 10 packs that are included in the Advanced Edition, plus the four for logging in during the event. If you purchase the Advanced Edition after the event is over, you will still receive the 10 Outbreak Packs.
The Outbreak Collection will contain cosmetic gear for the following Operators:
- Two Chimera Operators
- Smoke
- Ying
- Buck
- Kapkan
- Hibana
- Zofia
- Fuze
- Ash
- Doc
- Thermite
- Tachanka
