Rainbow Six Siege: Operation Grim Sky Release Date Revealed

Rainbow Six Siege

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is enjoying season 3 of their third year with the release of Operation Grim Sky. The expansion is already available on their test servers and now Ubisoft has announced when the latest update will go live. The expansion has a lot to offer and fans finally know when they can dive in.

As in other Operations in Rainbow Six Siege, this new installation will introduce two new Operators, Clash and Maverick. Clash, a defender from Great Britain, wields a shield (the first defender in the game to) and also carries a taser. When it comes to Maverick, however, they are an American Attacker with stun grenades and a blowtorch (this character has already been nerfed).

Rainbow Six Siege: Operation Grim Sky is also overhauling one of its first maps, Hereford base. According to Ubisoft, this is the first overhaul the company has performed in the game. Players can expect a wider area with more walls to destroy along with new hatches and staircases. Ubisoft provided more details about the overhaul, which you can read below:

“The aim of this Hereford Base Map Rework is to address issues pertaining to the map’s flow, balancing, and visual thematic to make the new Hereford Base viable for competitive play. This is the first map rework for the Development Team, starting with Operation Grim Sky. This map makeover contains many twists and should be treated as a new map: the iconic and recently renovated Hereford Base.

Each floor of the new Hereford Base will have a larger surface area, which also means more destructible floors and walls. New stairs and hatches will be available, allowing for more movement between each floor and increasing the viability of rotations. Players will notice a dramatic change to the room structures, but the map will still feel familiar despite the entirely new layout.”

There will also be a buff added to the Consulate map in Rainbow Six Siege. While the changes aren’t as massive, players will have to shift their strategic approach when they play the map. A wall has been moved to prevent players from early kills and spawn peeking, along with an extended police line span point. Rainbow Six Siege is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Fans will be able to get their hands on Operation Grim Sky on September 4th.
