Rainbow Six Siege: Burnt Horizon Map Revealed In New Trailer (VIDEO)
Ubisoft revealed a brand new DLC for Rainbow Six Siege titled Burnt Horizon earlier this week. With it are new operators that join the ranks, fresh content to keep players intrigued and, of course, a brand new map. The studio releases a brand new trailer that offers the community a bird’s eye view of the new area. Surrounded by dusty-red desert, dilapidated buildings and vehicles, Outback offers three distinct areas to explore – the Garage, the Motel, and the Restaurant. Check out the brief peek below:
The Burnt Horizon DLC will become available within the first season of their fourth year, which should arrive not long after the Six Invitational taking place on February 17th. To ramp up the anticipation for their latest downloadable content, assistant level design director, Jacques Wong, reveals a few interesting tidbits that inspired the latest map. Wong says:
We divided the map into three distinct sections – the Garage, the Motel, and the Restaurant – and put a lot of effort into making sure each section is recognisable, even from far away. There are specific colours for each section, and we used lighting and geometry to direct the player’s gaze to where they need to go.
In addition to that, Burnt Horizon shifts the focus of Rainbow Six Siege to bring back a beloved style of gameplay without disturbing the meta too much. Wong adds: “We wanted to emphasise the impact of player decision-making, so for example, there’s a limited number of doors between each sections. Roamers can still create new paths by destroying walls, and there’s always the option of changing floors as a flanking strategy. It’s a medium-sized map, so players won’t need to go far to find alternative routes.”
