Prince Of Persia Remake Listing Leaked Online

Prince Of Persia Remake Listing Leaked Online

The Prince of Persia series is one of those franchises that, although it manages to do well enough with fans and critics, doesn’t seem to hold much importance with the folks over at Ubisoft. As such, following the release of the decidedly unsuccessful live-action movie, the IP has seemingly been relegated to VR Escape Rooms and the occasional cross-over event. It looks like our beloved prince may have stumbled upon the sands of time once more, though, as it appears that the Prince of Persia series is getting one more chance to shine in the form of some kind of remake.

News of a potential Prince of Persia Remake comes to us by way of the folks over at Prima Games, which recently reported on an online retail listing discovered by Twitter user Ken Xyro. Said listing is from Guatemalan retailer MAX, which is apparently an official Nintendo distributor. Check out the listing below:

While we tend to take random listings from Guatemalan retailers with a grain of salt, it’s important to note that journalist and industry insider Jason Schreier appears to think this is the real deal, stating that “video game retailers definitely love to anticipate Ubisoft’s surprise announcements.” Schreier wasn’t finished, though, with the Bloomberg reporter going so far as to telling someone that their tweet condemning the rumors “won’t age well.”

As for the real question here, which Prince of Persia game is getting the remake treatment? If it was a remaster then I’d personally guess that it could be the original trilogy, though given that it’s listed as a ‘remake’ chances are it’ll be a full-blown redo of the original Sands of Time title released on the PS1. If it’s anything like the time and effort Square Enix put into the Final Fantasy VII Remake, then it’ll be more than worth the wait.
