Pokémon GO Studio Currently Has 10 Games In Development (VIDEO)

Pokemon GO studio Niantic

Since debuting four years ago, Pokémon GO has amounted to immeasurable success for developer Niantic, with millions of users still embracing their inner trainer on a weekly basis. The time since has only seen their profile grow, with the debut of fellow augmented reality title Harry Potter: Wizards Unite as well as a well-oiled relaunch of the project that started it all dubbed ‘Ingress Prime.’ It appears the Pokémon GO studio is now aiming to replicate this success on a bigger scale, as Niantic has confirmed over 10 games are currently in the works.

As reported by Prima Games, the company recently shared a rough roadmap regarding their immediate plans for the future. As one might expect, Niantic aims to keep its focus squarely on AR, with a total of two games scheduled to release by the end of 2020 alone. The studio’s CEO John Hanke expressed his intent to keep this pace through the next few years, indicating a total of 10 projects currently in varying stages of development.

“We’re hard at work on our games pipeline with a multiyear product road map made up of games and other forms of AR experiences,” Niantic CEO John Hanke said via Bloomberg. “We are extending the concept of what constitutes a Niantic game in a variety of ways.”

While these new efforts are confirmed to be separate from their current franchises, the Pokémon GO studio assured that their ongoing games will still receive continued support for the foreseeable future. With that said, it appears that the company’s future will similarly adhere to the developer’s lineup of location-based AR experiences. This idea is most evident by Niantic’s Wayfarer platform, which tasks users with widening the company’s scope of local hotspots and landmarks, leading the way for these locations to “populate Niantic products.”

Pokémon GO is available now for Android and iOS.
