PlayStation VR “One of The Best Inventions of 2016” According to Time Magazine

Time Magazine recently released their annual best tech of the year list and Sony’s PlayStation VR has landed a spot on the unranked registry. The company describes Sony’s VR as “The Headset Leading a Virtual Revolution.” With all the VR headsets on the market and surely with plenty more to follow as the trend continues to becomes more popular and the technology progresses, one has to wonder why Time went with Sony’s headset over others like Samsung’s Gear or the Oculus Rift. The magazine simply cites the headset’s price point and accessibility as the main reasons it won over its competitors.

psvr2 Here’s what Time had to say about PlayStation VR:

In order to access the most cutting-edge virtual reality, people typically have to shell out thousands of dollars—not just for a headset (like the $800 HTC Vive), but for a computer that’s powerful enough to support it. Sony’s PlayStation VR, by contrast, is designed to work with a console that millions of people already own: the PlayStation 4. That’s a boon for gamers in search of what Sony engineer Richard Marks calls “the most intense, most extreme” action, as well as casual consumers, who now have an easier way to experience VR.

PlayStation VRLooking at all the VR products on the market right now we’d have be lying if we said that we didn’t see the logic in their decision. After all, millions of people already own Sony’s flagship console the (PS4) PlayStation 4. Hopefully as more and more companies release their own virtual reality hardware, this will create a push that propels advancement within the technology.

Sony’s VR headset is available now for around $400 assuming you already own a PS4, if not then your looking at a total cost of $700 for all the hardware you need with $300 of that being what the base model of the ps4 is currently priced at. Thanksgiving is right around the corner which means so is the biggest retail sales day of the year, Black Friday. Were beating there’s going to be lots of deals when it comes to Sony products.
