PlayStation Studios Brand Revealed To Launch With PlayStation 5 (VIDEO)
Sony is known for bringing the heat when it comes to exclusives on the PlayStation consoles. We’ve seen many great titles released on their systems over the years, and now they have revealed the new PlayStation Studios branding that will be played before each first-party game, starting on the PlayStation 5.
The video, which can be seen below, is very reminiscent of something seen before a Marvel movie, which is understandable due to the fact that Sony has helped bring to life many giant video game characters. We can see the likes of Kratos, Aloy, Nathan Drake, and more. Luckily, it won’t always be the same. Sony Interactive Entertainment senior vice president and head of global marketing Eric Lempel stated that they do have various versions of the animation. He also mentioned the parallels with Marvel film openings that many people will surely pick up on.
“What we really wanted to do was create a way to bring the consumer into the world,” Lampel said while discussing PlayStation Studios (via Gamesindustry.biz). “When they play our games that’s the nice robust piece that happens, and then you’re transported into an adventure with rich worlds, old characters, and really captivating stories. We’re all huge Marvel fans. One of our biggest games of all time has a Marvel character in it with Spider-Man. But this is really about doing something specific for our games and our industry.”
The PlayStation Studios opening animation won’t be ready for The Last of Us Part II, Ghost of Tsushima, or Horizon Zero Dawn on PC when they all arrive this summer, but the branding will be on PlayStation 4 games as well. Lampel also noted that while many people may recognize a game that comes from their Worldwide Studios, they want to make it clear for everyone. This will include first-party developers like Naughty Dog, Guerrilla Games, Santa Monica Studios, Insomniac, and more.
Players can expect to begin seeing the PlayStation Studios branding later this year when the PlayStation 5 launches. Keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story develops, and for other gaming goodness going on right now, check out the following:
