First Original Xbox Games To Become Backwards Compatible Leaked
Given that initially the Xbox One did not have any backwards compatibility, early adopters of the console were pleasantly surprised when Microsoft confirmed that backwards compatibility for specific Xbox 360 games would be coming to the console. Those that owned a disc of the ever-expanding list of 360 games would be able to have the game playable on their Xbox One free of charge, which would come as quite a boon over PlayStation 4 owners whose only option for backwards compatibility is the paid PlayStation Now streaming service. Now, it appears that some original Xbox games might also be backwards compatible on the latest console soon.

Twitter user WalkingCat has been known in the past for leaking new video game news that was confirmed later to be accurate. They have tweeted a new photo showing several original Xbox games, with a description implying that these will be the first backwards compatible original console titles on the Xbox One. Microsoft’s Phil Spencer has promised in the past that the team has been working on this feature, which only adds to the value Xbox One owners will perceive towards their device over PS4. If WalkingCat’s tweet is true, the first titles will be:
First Original Xbox Games With Backwards Compatibility
- Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
- Ninja Gaiden: Black
- Red Faction II
- Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
- Grabbed by the Ghoulies
- Psychonauts
- Dead to Rights
- Crimson Skies
- Fuzion Frenzy
- Sid Meier’s Pirates!
- BloodRayne 2
- The King of Fighters: NeoWave
These are some of the most critically praised and fondly remembered original console titles. Since there is no official announcement for this feature no release date has been given, but rumors have pointed to a November 7th launch date.
