Reggie Fils-Aime Hints At Nintendo Switch Super Smash Bros. Game (VIDEO)
The release of the Nintendo Switch, at least for the moment, is being heralded as a success by Nintendo, as well as outlets such as Gamestop, which considered the console launch the best in years for the company. The highly anticipated and critically acclaimed The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild brought in many hardcore Nintendo fans, and the return of easy to use motion controllers and games like 1-2 Switch likely brought in a good share of casual gamers. The future of growth for the console, however, may be deeply impacted by the return of Nintendo’s most popular franchises. Many fans are likely waiting for the announcement of a Switch Super Smash Bros. game, and hope for this time come may have just been given by everyone’s favorite body-readier.
The Facebook Live video seen above was posted earlier today, which featured an interview with Nintendo of America Chief Operating Officer Reggie Fils-Aime. In the interview, Fils-Aime references Nintendo’s practice of bringing at least one title from their classic franchises to each platform that they release. He mentions regarding the usual system library lineup, “There’s going to be one great Super Mario experience, one great Zelda”. Fils-Aime then tells fans to expect a Smash Bros title to come to the Switch “at some point in future”. While he was quick to point out that Nintendo has no announcements to be made today regarding the fighting franchise, he did note that “fans love these games, this content and so, you know, stay tuned.”
One might also be aware that Reggie has hinted at the possibility of a Nintendo Switch Smash Bros. game before, and there even are rumors of a Melee release accompanying a possible Gamecube Virtual Console on Switch.
