New Star Wars: Rogue One TV Spot Puts Erso Front and Center (Video)

It’s no surprise that with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story slated to make its debut next month new footage has started to appear online. The latest being a brand new TV spot which features the film’s protagonist Jyn Erso, portrayed by Felicity Jones, giving what feels to be a very inspirational speech before what appears to be some final assault. Check it out below.

The 30 second clip puts Erso front and center for the most part amongst moments of fast paced action and very quick, but also very menacing, glimpses of Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn) and Saw Gerrera (Forrest Whitaker). The way the spot is cut makes us wonder if there is a parallel between the two aforementioned characters or at the very least a history between them. Taking heed of the fact that Whitaker’s character is made to look like he’s been in his share of battles we think it’s highly likely. While the final trailer for the spinoff gives us the deepest look into the film’s story, this new spot does add a few unseen shots getting fans even more hyped for the film.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story takes place in between the prequels and the original trilogy and follows hero Jane Erso as she brings together a ragtag band of rebels in a mission to steal the death star plans from the oppressive galactic empire. The first in a line of standalone spinoffs, Rogue One hits theaters on December 18th.
