The Title for Star Wars Episode VIII has Been Confirmed! – Plus More on Luke Skywalker

Star Wars Episode VIII - The Last Jedi

You read that headline correctly! The title for the highly anticipated next installment in the Star Wars franchise has a name, and it has everyone at Don’t Feed the Gamers jumping for joy! Drumroll, please…Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The Twitter account for Star Wars tweeted this out on the morning of January 23:

The Last Jedi has a nice ring to it, but it doesn’t sound very good for the story’s characters. Is Luke the last Jedi? Are there other unannounced Jedi in the galaxy and we just think Luke is the last one? Will the Jedi die off with Luke? This title raises so many questions! Lucasfilm, why do you do this to us?!

It has previously been announced that the main question this film is going to answer is “What has Luke Skywalker been up to since his disappearance?” In an interview with USA Today, Rian Johnson, the film’s director, spoke about what the movie means to him and what he wants to emphasize in it. “I want it to be a blast and to be funny and to be a ride the way The Force Awakens and the original Star Wars movies were,” said Rian.

He also spoke of using Luke Skywalker as an “emotional entry point” into the new film. Johnson said, “I’m approaching it with a take that I hope feels honest and real and is going to be interesting to folks and make sense.” All we know is that we absolutely cannot wait for December 15, when the film is released!

What say you, moviegoers? Are you liking the title for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, or do you have to wait to see the film in order to decide if it fits or not? If it is implying what we think it is, we’re terrified and excited all at the same time! Let us know what you’re thinking down in the comments section below! As always, stay tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers for more updates on the Star Wars franchise!
