New Star Citizen Update Takes Players Underground (VIDEO)
There are a lot of small nooks and crannies for players to explore in Star Citizen but there hasn’t really been much to do when they get there. The latest update for the game’s alpha, however, has added a new layer to the player’s ability to make money through mining, even giving players a chance to delve deep into caves in search of the “gold in them thar hills.”
Alpha 3.7, also known as the Underground update allows players to go to a planet and discover extensive cave networks filled with minerals just waiting to be mined and sold for profit. It’s also possible that players may find some unique harvestable resources such as weird alien tomatoes that can be placed within their personal inventory to sell when they return to a station. In order to even find these intricate cave systems, players will need to scan the planets and satellites themselves while in space before landing at their destination.
The update also brings in a variety of other things such as new ships including the Banu Defender, an alien ship designed to be a Light Fighter. Mission sharing has been implemented allowing players to not only share missions with each other but reap the rewards with friends as well. Renting has arrived as well giving players a chance to try out new ships with in-game money for differing periods of time. Lastly, Star Citizen’s Star Marine and Arena Commander modes have been given a few new scenarios as well.
Star Citizen has no set release date for the full version of the game but has been pretty consistent in seeing new patches and updates with new and better content for players to interact with over the last few years. The PC title has been in development for quite a long time and still has a long way to go before its ready for full development but, there is a lot of potential with the project and players who get in on the action may find that they can catch a small glimpse of what the game will be when completed.
