Nintendo Announces Three New Indie Titles for Nintendo Switch Launch

Nintendo Switch Launch

March 3rd is fast approaching and it looks like Nintendo is continuing to dole out heaps of new announcements and information for excited fans everywhere. As we all prepare for the Nintendo Switch launch, game developers have revealed that there will be three new games available in the eShop when the system hits shelves in a little over a week. These aren’t your big-budget titles, however. What’s most exciting about this is the fact that indie developers are getting their chance to shine with the system’s launch. According to Nintendo, over 60 indie titles will be available for purchase, giving fans of this much-anticipated system a wide selection of great games to download, aside from the system’s physical game copies (or their digital counterparts if you want to go totally disk-free).

You can check out the full selection of Nintendo Switch titles here, but if you’re curious what the initial three indie games will be for the Nintendo Switch launch, the titles revealed are FAST RMX, Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove and Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment. FAST RMX comes from indie developer Shin’en Multimedia and will challenge you and your friends in split-screen competition. If you want to compete against others, you can also take part in online races. FAST RMX is exclusive to Nintendo Switch.

As for the two Shovel Knight titles, Treasure Trove is a full content download, including the original Shovel Knight game, all previously released DLC content, and even Specter of Torment. If you choose not to go the route of the all-inclusive download, you can just download Specter of Torment by itself, considering it is a full-featured game all on its own.

Developers also revealed some other bits of information for fans, reporting that any currency in your Nintendo eShop Wallet can be accessed through the Nintendo Switch, making the currency cross-platform. However, what is not cross-platform is the Virtual Console. Any Virtual Console games you have will not work at the Nintendo Switch launch, though developers stated to check back with them later on that.

For more information on the upcoming system’s release and the accompanying indie game roster, Nintendo is also offering a live-stream of their “Nindie” showcase, which will air on February 28th.  If Nintendo indie games are your jam, make sure you check out the showcase on the 28th here, and keep up to date on all the new content coming your way.
