Ubisoft Unveils Fallout Shelter-Like Assassin’s Creed ‘Rebellion’ – Chibi Assassins Unite! (VIDEO)
Ubisoft took a year off from their annual Assassin’s Creed release to sit back and rethink the franchise’s future after a few back-to-back troubling launches. Apparently that was just what the company needed because when they debuted Assassin’s Creed Origins, fans of the series found a renewed interest in the franchise that has been such a staple in the gaming world. That wasn’t the only game up their sleeve though. Today, the company made a surprise announcement of the new Assassin’s Creed Rebellion – a new mobile game that we think will definitely appeal to Fallout Shelter fans.
No one expects the chibi Inquisition! That’s right, the new RPG free-to-play strategy game will be set during the time of the Spanish Inquisition. Players will be given the ability to form bonds and recruit assassins to join their brotherhood and keep a stronghold in a fortifiable fortress. Craft superior equipment, train your fellow assassin’s, and build up your castle to prepare for the rebellion.
The way this game is set up, similarly to Fallout Shelter, is that you get what you put in. There is a way to play the game at a base-line level, but to get the most out of it you’re going to want to talk to your people, spend the time customizing each room and every piece of equipment. This will unlock new goodies, including brand new characters. Ubisoft also promises different missions types, both at launch and at a later date to keep content flowing.
Fast forward the video a little bit to see actual gameplay – that’s where it starts to look like its Fallout brethren. Not only mechanically, but visually as well. Not too terribly unexpected given that both titles were headed by the same company, Behaviour Interactive.
No release date yet but Assassin’s Creed Rebellion will be available for both iOS and Android devices. Will it make the jump to bigger platforms in the future like Fallout Shelter did? Time will tell, but if its initial launch is successful, that move is not out of the question. Thoughts on the chibi-fied assassins? Do you think this is a fun branch off of the main franchise or do you want Ubisoft to stick to what they know?
