Mortal Kombat Writer Wants To Make A BioShock Movie
Despite it being quite some time since any entries have been made in the franchise, the original BioShock still remains on gamers’ minds, with it being considered by many to be one of the best video games ever made. That said, there haven’t really been any concrete attempts at adapting the game’s excellent story to the big screen, though Mortal Kombat movie writer Greg Russo seemingly has an idea that he think could work.
Russo has apparently been trying for some time to get the ball rolling on a BioShock movie adaptation, though he seemingly hasn’t had much luck thus far. “I would love to figure out a way to do BioShock and I’ve tried,” Russo recently said to Comicbook. “I’ve been like elbowing everybody I can possibly find, because I think I have a really awesome way to do it that would be really fun. And bring the horror of it to the forefront and hopefully keep the budget at a manageable price. But yeah, that’s one that I’d absolutely adore, that be a lot of fun to work on.”
A big unknown is whether Russo would try to simply adapt the story of the original BioShock or simply go in a different direction with the story. As exciting as it would be to see a straight adaptation of the story, the first game suffers from very little character interaction outside of the use of Rapture’s radio system, something that was dramatically changed with the introduction of Elizabeth in BioShock Infinite. Still, if Greg Russo thinks he’s got a great idea, then let’s see it.
