Mortal Kombat 11: Kronika Confirmed To Not Be Playable
The initial reveal having taken place a few weeks ago, Mortal Kombat 11 has since been shaping up to be in interesting ride for longtime fans. NetherRealm Studios are notably keen to introduce time travel to the series, affecting not only this game’s events but somehow altering the history of the entire franchise.
The architect of all this time-manipulating mayhem is none other than Kronika, a mysterious being with untold levels of temporal power. Though we’ve seen an indirect glimpse of Kronika through the game’s story trailer, not much about the intriguing character has yet been made known. However, it now appears that these immense abilities won’t be at players’ disposal as she’s been confirmed to not appear as a playable character.
The news comes from NetherRealm artist Thiago Gomes, who confirmed Kronika’s unfortunate exclusion in an interview with IGN Brazil. While not featured as a fighter in the deadly tournament, it was confirmed that she’ll inhabit a role as the game’s main villain, likely occupying a similar capacity as Shao Kahn back in Mortal Kombat II.
Though the mysterious master of time won’t be included among the brutal proceedings, there still looks to be plenty of characters on the way for the upcoming fighter. Among the planned roster, old favorites such as Kano and newcomers like the sand-transforming Geras are already establishing themselves as worthwhile contenders. There looks to be no shortage of surprises in store leading up to the release of Mortal Kombat 11, which takes place on April 23rd for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
What do you think? Are you upset Kronika won’t be taking part in all the kombat, or do you feel that she’ll be made available in the future?
