Mortal Kombat 11’s Johnny Cage Revealed In New Character Trailer (VIDEO)

Mortal Kombat 11's Johnny Cage Revealed In New Character Trailer (VIDEO)

Surprise! Following the smallest amount of build-up, NetherRealm Studios has revealed yet another character for Mortal Kombat 11. It wasn’t too long ago when the likes of Jade and Kabal had made their entry into the roster, but a new reveal has now confirmed MK’s A-lister Johnny Cage has also been added as well.

In an exclusive reveal with IGN, not only were Cage fans given their due, but we also were given a look at the fighter’s flashy moveset. We see a return of character’s flip kicks, shadow kicks, and even a bit of miming, but no appearance from Johnny’s infamous “Nut Punch” attack, unfortunately. What we get instead is a look at his new Fatal Blow and Fatality, which involves bludgeoning Kabal with a “Best Acting” trophy, followed by repeated takes of Johnny uppercutting his foe’s head into the air. Check it out below.

The addition of Johnny Cage hasn’t been the most surprising of additions to Mortal Kombat 11. The character notably cameoed in the background of the game’s gameplay trailer, and NetherRealm have been leaving small teases here and there regarding the character’s eventual appearance. It was just last week when NetherRealm’s endlessly trolling Creative Director Ed Boon had teased the release of a new character, one that now seems very obvious is Cage.

Today won’t just be Johnny Cage’s day as another character is now also on the way. Even with a myriad of supposed leaks, there’s no telling who this new fighter could be, especially as third-party characters become an increasing possibility. Whatever the case may be, the big reveal is scheduled to take place today as part of the latest Kombat Kast.

Mortal Kombat 11 hits Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on April 23rd.
