Mortal Kombat 11’s Ed Boon Teases “Big Surprise” For Fans Next Year

Mortal Kombat 11's Johnny Cage Revealed In New Character Trailer (VIDEO)

Hot off the heels of revealing some characters that didn’t end up making the cut for Mortal Kombat 11, Ed Boon has been talking more about the future of the Mortal Kombat franchise. While fans already have a bunch of new characters to look forward to in the game’s Kombat Pack with a possible second pack on the way soon, there seems to be even more Mortal Kombat coming in the near future.

During the Brazil Game Show, Boon talked a little bit about what MK11 has brought to the community so far. However, the real meat of the story comes a little bit later during the interview. The NetherRealm Studio boss had this to say about new MK content.

The story of Mortal Kombat, we’re pretty much calling [Mortal Kombat 11] the end of the story… We’re certainly not through with Mortal Kombat. You know, there are more characters that are gonna come and we have a big surprise coming next year for Mortal Kombat.”

While this is most definitely intentionally vague, having a deliverable time frame for this surprise is certainly tantalizing. This surprise could be any number of things from a new Kombat Pack, a trailer for the new movie, or maybe even a spin-off game! While it may take some time to know for sure, we’ll be sure to keep you as updated as possible. Mortal Kombat 11 is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
