Monster Hunter Live-Action Film Reveals First Look At Rathalos (VIDEO)
Now that production on the live-action Monster Hunter movie has completed, new footage of the Milla Jovovich film has begun to release through its various social media outlets. Earlier this month saw the release of our first look at Black Diablos, which managed to dispel some of the concerns leveled against it with Resident Evil movie director Paul W.S. Anderson at the helm. Now, the movie has gone one step further and released new footage featuring our first look at the film’s Rathalos, and boy is it big.
The new footage comes by way of a virtual panel at New York Comin Con, wherein Monster Hunter movie director Paul W.S. Anderson spoke about his time with the Resident Evil series, making the Monster Hunter film, and other assorted topics. Just after the 42 minute mark a clip from the movie plays showing off our first look at Rathalos, and it’s decidedly larger than what we expected. Check it out below:
Polygon’s Matt Patches is very quick to point out that the creature shown in the clip isn’t just a Rathalos, but a ‘Greater’ Rathalos. Anderson responds to this by confirming that this is a “new and improved version” that wouldn’t be seen within the games. According to Anderson, the reason for this is because it’s “associated with an ancient civilization” that also runs throughout the games. We’ll hopefully be able to learn more prior to the film’s launch on December 30, 2020.
