Mike Mignola Confirms an R-Rated Hellboy Reboot Incoming
A Hellboy reboot is incoming and has been confirmed be the original creator of the comic series himself. According to a personal Facebook post of Mike Mignola, he announces that the film franchise has been revived! While many knew the first film, as well as the sequel, under director Guillermo del Toro and Ron Perlman as Red, it comes to no surprise that the remake will be led by a different cast and crew. The official halt was announced via Twitter in February when Del Toro himself said the final words. It seems as though this wasn’t a decision that was entirely up to him, however. In a follow-up Tweet, he mentions that the series “may move into a different direction” even though it breaks his heart to see it leave.
Hellboy may move into a different direction. heartbroken- but, not up to me. I, for one, wish everyone involved the best of luck!

While the news may be bittersweet for some, it is a reboot nonetheless and the trust must remain with the original creator. In his place will be Neil Marshall, a director from the famous Game of Thrones series back in 2012 and 2014, and will feature David Harbour from Stranger Things as the main character. It is with unfortunate news that Ron Perlman will not be coming back. It has also been confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter that the Millennium production company is negotiating with the possible title of “Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen”, but this may change over time. Others involved in the production and direction of this movie includes Dark Horse Comics, Christopher Golden and Andrew Cosby for the script. Of course, Mike Mignola will be involved during the entire process.
