Metroidvania Title ‘Axiom Verge’ is Coming to the Nintendo Switch from BadLand Games

BadLand Games announced today that the Metroidvania title Axiom Verge would have a release on the Nintendo Switch this summer. The game’s 2015 release on the PS4, and later ported to PC, Xbox One, Wii U, and PS Vita, found immediate acclaim among fans of the genre. The action-adventure side-scroller is reminiscent of the first Metroid, battling aliens and exploring a planet wrought with dangers.

Axiom Verge allows players to traverse a labyrinth-like alien planet. Players battle the inhabitants as they dive deeper into the world. Along the way, they can gather power-ups and battle bosses.

Originally an exclusively digital release, Axiom Verge will have a physical version dubbed the “Multiverse Edition” available upon release. The physical copy will be available for the Switch, PS4, PS Vita, and Wii U. The Multiverse Edition will include an art booklet with commentary, a poster of the world map with items and a game creation documentary made by 2 Player Productions.

According to BadLand Games, the developer plans to release a Standard Edition of Axiom Verge as well. This version will be available on the Switch and PS4. The Standard Edition will Bring the price down considerably for those who can’t spend the money. This version will only include the game.

The Axiom Verge Multiverse Edition will be available for $30 on all platforms but the Switch, which retails at $40. As a preorder incentive, the Switch version will include the original soundtrack for the game. Also available will be a digital version in the Switch eSHop that will retail for $20. Axiom Verge is set to release this August.
