Fans of the long running manga serial Gintama got the tease of a lifetime when cast announcements and character visuals were released for a live-action remake of the action/comedy story. After the official Gintama Twitter posted these teasers to keep their eager fans on the edges of their seats, it seemed that nothing else would come of these announcements until the very last minute. Well, fortunately for fans, their wishes have come true as the film creators have finally released a clip to show off the epic visuals coming in the live action adaptation. The Gintama Twitter has been oddly silent about updates, rehashing old posts and keeping fans guessing for awhile now, so it’s definitely exciting to see that they’ve given us a little taste of the epic action coming our way. While the clip is only a mere 30 seconds long, it certainly packs in a lot for fans to enjoy. Of course, at the end of the clip, we do get a taste of the humor that comes standard with the Gintama storyline (Kagura and Shinpachi bantering back and forth about the worth of the film), so it’s great to see that the film makers are keeping the material close to the source as much as they can.

The film stars Oguri Shun, Suda Masaki, Hashimoto Kanna, Nagasawa Masami, and Nakamura Kankuro VI (just to name a few of the star-studded cast). Gintama is set for release July 2017 in Japan, so if you have the opportunity to see it, make sure you snag that chance when it comes along.
