Life Is Strange: True Colors Announced With Emotional New Trailer (VIDEO)

Today’s Square Enix Presents event ran through plenty of the Japanese publisher’s franchises, touching on a few of its upcoming mobile games while also making some interesting announcements for Marvel’s Avengers and Project Athia, now known as Forspoken. The main draw of the showcase arrived towards the end of the event in the form of the new Life is Strange game, subtitled True Colors.

Revealed today by Square Enix, Life is Strange: True Colors puts players into the shoes of the brand new lead character Alex, who is shown in the trailer to essentially be a superpowered empath. Alex’s ‘curse’ allows her to “experience, absorb and manipulate the strong emotions of others, which she sees as blazing, colored auras.” Alex finds herself in the small town of Haven Springs at her brother’s invitation, though the peace and quiet is quickly shattered when her brother dies in a “so-called accident.” Check out the trailer below:

Not unlike the previous Life is Strange games, True Colors goes light on action and heavy on story, telling the tale of Alex as she explores Haven Springs in order to uncover the mystery of her brother’s death. The game naturally puts a heavy emphasis on emotions and colors given Alex’s abilities, though music is also at the forefront as shown in the trailer.

The emotional new Life is Strange: True Colors title will be releasing on PC, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and Stadia in its entirety on September 10, 2021.
