Kojima Talks About His Approach as a Game Developer and What Others are Doing Wrong

Hideo Kojima is known for his eccentric ideas and approach to everything in life, including how he sees himself as a game developer in the industry. One thing that fans of his know, is that he has established himself quite effectively as a name in the the gaming market since his start back in ’86 with Konami. Now as he pursues his first title with his own company Kojima Productions, he took a few moments to discuss with gamers worldwide his thoughts on the current industry and how he feels a lot of companies are making a critical misstep.

On his personal Twitter account, Kojima broached a few topics, including his own personal philosopher towards being a developer and comparing the games market to that of film. For those interested in his slightly left of center world view, his Twitterpades was incredibly interesting and gave a little more insight into the man behind the legend.

One notable Tweet in his 17-installment discussion was his criticism of the practice that many companies participate in; the act of outsourcing their development process,

An action game can never be completed by ordering from a blueprint and assembling parts off a factory line…when everything is outsourced, the parts that come back just don’t fit together.”

It’s not an uncommon practice by any means but it isn’t much of a stretch to also believe that this particular call out hits home with his previous employer; Konami. With his work on Metal Gear and then Metal Gear Survive practicing exactly what he’s talking about – well, if the metaphorical shoe fits.
