Johnny Silverhand’s Bionic Arm From Cyberpunk 2077 Is Now A Real Prosthetic (VIDEO)
Cyberpunk 2077 is finally available to the public, and while the game has numerous bugs and glitches to work on during the next few months, plenty of users have still been able to enjoy the world of the future. One of the more beloved aspects of the game has been Keanu Reeves’s performance as Johnny Silverhand, the rock star that inhabits the player’s mind in the game. Like Johnny, gaming has seen many characters with iconic prosthetic arms, such as Venom Snake in Metal Gear Solid. Venom Snake’s robotic arm was recently turned into a real-world prosthetic limb for amputees, and now Johnny Silverhand’s bionic arm will receive the same real-world treatment.
CD Projekt Red revealed the real version of Johnny Silverhand’s bionic arm in a new video released on the official Xbox YouTube channel. The prosthesis was created in partnership with Limbitless Solutions, a non-profit organization that specializes in creating prosthetic limbs and finding deserving users who need them. In the past they have made prosthetic arms meant to be modeled after pop culture characters like Iron Man, and now they got to take their shot at recreating the iconic arm from Cyberpunk 2077.
The video shows Limbitless Solutions’s team working on the project, using reference material from Cyberpunk 2077 to carefully recreate the look of Johnny Silverhand’s bionic arm by hand. The prosthetic arms will be awarded to deserving adults in need during critical trials that will be conducted in 2021. The vision of the future seen in Cyberpunk 2077 does look somewhat bleak regarding its views of technology, but it’s great to see similar technology being used in the real world for good. Like seeing Keanu Reeves himself, seeing a good deed like this is breathtaking.
