Sunset Overdrive 2 On The Horizon – Insomniac Games On The Lookout For A Publisher
There are different ways developers interact and respond to their fanbase and often honesty is the best policy, and it was especially so in this case especially when fans are the foundation of development and financial prosperity for the titles. While Insomniac Games studio is currently hard at work on Marvel’s latest gaming endeavor Marvel‘s Spider-Man, but as soon as that’s over what is next for them? It may very well be Sunset Overdrive 2.
Speaking to Twitter and making a sly announcement during a livestream event on Twitch, game studio representatives confirmed the idea that Insomniac Games wants Sunset Overdrive 2 just as bad as their fans. What they need is a publisher.

Some might be thinking, well the action-adventure game was released in 2014 for the Xbox One, so it will likely be a partnership with Microsoft again right? Fortunately, the studio has a different set of priorities this time around and there are currently no plans for it “on that front”. Furthermore, picking a publisher isn’t all fun and games.
A lot of factors must be considered and it’s primarily a “case-by-case basis” when factors like IP ownership and a good fit have to be taken into account. During their Twitch livestream event a few days ago, Insomniac Games CEO Ted Price responded to inquiring minds about the future of Sunset Overdrive 2:
Sunset is something I know a lot of our fans talk about wanting a sequel – we need a partner for that. That’s a big game. Sunset 2 would be a very large-scope game.”
Both Price and his livestream partner, James Stevenson, went on to discuss the possibility of releasing the game on multiple platforms as a possibility.
