God Of War Creative Director Cory Barlog Wants To Create Brand New IP Next (VIDEO)
In less than a week, gamers will be reacquainted with the iconic Kratos, although he will be a much different version of the character never seen before. This new game will focus on narrative between Kratos and his son and a journey of personal growth, a start contrast to the franchise’s previous titles. A lot of these new changes and their delivery can be attributed to God of War Creative Director, Cory Barlog. His guidance has helped bring God of War to a new level that is exciting fans and impressing critics everywhere. Now, Barlog has spoken about his intentions for his next project, including his desire to make a brand new IP.
Barlog appeared recently in the latest “Coffee in Cars” segment on the Skill Up YouTube channel to talk about God of War. In the video, he talks about the process of developing the game, but the most interesting bit comes toward the end of their talk when Barlog looks to the future. He mentions that once his promotional coverage for the game ends, he plans on taking a break from the work to spend time with his family. After that, Barlog express hope that his next project will be an original IP of his own creation.
As Barlog states in the video, “I’d love to create something of my own. Something that is truly coming from my original vision.” He acknowledges that he would have to sell Sony on the idea of him making a new franchise, but if this new game is as successful as many are expecting, it would be hard to imagine them not giving him a shot, provided it is a smart idea. Still, if God of War ends up half as good as it has looked so far, Barlog would certainly have less trouble than Kratos as a father of new creation.
