Gears Of War 5 Could Be Closer Than We Think, According To Recent Job Listing

Gears 4's Largest Update

Though Gears of War 4 only just released back in 2016, it looks like the team over at Microsoft are already ramping up for Gears of War 5. At least, that’s what it looks like with a recent job posting listed.

The listing in question comes from the studio behind Gears of War 4’s multiplayer, Splash Damage. There are a few key details about the recent job post that are making us wonder if this means what we think it does regarding the next phase for the long-standing Microsoft franchise. The job posting in question was looking for a Storyboard Artist, here’s what it was listed as:

Splash Damage is looking for a talented Artist to create cinematic storyboards and concepts to help us build stunning and inspiring art for an upcoming title. You’ll be inspiring the team and helping visualize the narrative while collaborating with the Cinematic Lead to ensure that the visual style and pacing is maintained. You will help to establish the artistic vision for Cinematics and be highly film literate, with a good understanding of layout, composition, sequential drawing and editing.

As a Storyboard artist, you will:

  • Help establish and drive the visual narrative in collaboration with Leads.
  • Iterate and explore ideas based around the game and narrative design.

If the above indication does indeed confirm a Gears of War 5 in the works, it looks like Splash could be making much more of a … er, splash with the series than they have in the past alongside The Coalition. With The Coalition reportedly working on a new Perfect Dark, who knows what’s next in store for our favourite crew of lancer toting badasses.

Would you like to see a Gears of War 5 sooner rather than later, or let the series rest? Sound off with your thoughts in the comment section below, and don’t forget to check out DFTG over on Twitter for gaming and entertainment news live 24/7!
