Fox has given its hit show Lucifer an early renewal for season 3. The next season will be 22 episodes long! This is only the 2nd Fox drama to get renewed for another season so far, the other being season 4 of Empire. The season two premiere boasted 4.4 million viewers and it has had a consistent average of 3.8 million throughout the season. Gotham only has an average of 3.5 million, so that shows you just how popular Lucifer is. The show… not he who shall not be named.

Lucifer is about none other than the original fallen angel, in case that wasn’t already obvious. He was getting bored of being the King of Hell, so he abandons his throne and moves to L.A. Lucifer (Tom Ellis) teams up with a detective from the L.A.P.D. named Chloe (Lauren German) in order to catch the city’s bad guys by using his gift of manipulating people in order to gain confessions from them. Fox Broadcasting Chief of Entertainment David Madden had this to say about the show:

Lucifer is one of those rare shows that starts strong out of the gate, and just keeps getting better and better. Tom, Lauren, and the entire cast have really made these characters three-dimensional, and the production team is one of the best in the business.”
