Fortnite Infinity Gauntlet Mode Confirmed, Become Thanos (VIDEO)

Fortnite Infinity Gauntlet Mode

The competitive multiplayer matches of Fortnite are famous for the steep battle to become victorious, but chances for survival may have been cut in half in the game’s latest mash-up. Yes, you read the title correctly. Big Marvel baddie Thanos is bringing the Infinity War to Battle Royale. This is no fan-made mod either, as Epic Games themselves have announced the official Fortnite Infinity Gauntlet mode.

Announced via Entertainment Weekly, the epic crossover mode called “Infinity Gauntlet Limited Time Mashup” will see the usual one hundred players engage in battle, but this time with Thanos’ all-powerful Infinity Gauntlet in play. The gem-encrusted artifact from Avengers: Infinity War will appear on the map, and upon retrieval, will transform the player into the Mad Titan himself. A tease for the Fortnite Infinity Gauntlet mode can be seen in the trailer below.

So, how did this unprecedented team-up happen? Well, as Fortite has grown to become a worldwide phenomenon, it too attracted Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo into the battle. In the midst of production, the two creatives would get in some sessions of Fortnite between work, when the idea of a mashup eventually took hold in their minds.

“Over the past few months, while we were editing Infinity War, we’d take breaks to hop on and get in a few games,” Joe revealed to Entertainment Weekly. “And then we started thinking, how cool would it be to have some kind of AvengersFortnite mashup? So we stalked [creative director of Epic Games] Donald.”

Confronted with the Russos’ idea, Donald Mustard was predictably excited with the coming together of the popular properties. Authenticity was said by Mustard to be a major topic of the back-and-forth, and initial plans were put in place “almost immediately”.

“It was really important that whatever we did, it had to be super authentic to both Fortnite and the Avengers: Infinity War, and something that fans of both would be excited about. About an hour later, we had the bones of this awesome idea for a limited time gameplay mode, and almost immediately our team got started.”

The epic Fortnite Infinity Gauntlet event is set to begin tomorrow, May 8th, so, unless you have access to the Time Stone, be sure to adjust your gaming plans accordingly. There haven’t been any details about how long the mode will last, but it likely won’t be too long if past promotions are anything to go by. Fans of either Marvel or Fortnite definitely won’t want to miss it!
